I saw there was pretty negative thread a while back about a Fritz Store, my experience was completely different.

I purchased a frame from another store and went into Fritz to get prices for parts and ended up getting them to build it for me. This was not a brand I see stocked by Friz. The guys really went the extra mile to have my build done by the weekend, driving around collecting parts that were unfortunately not provided with the frame and working late on a friday to have the bike ready.

Made such a good impression that I purchased another bike from them today (one of those funny looking things with the skinny wheels)

I aways find these guys friendly, helpful and honest

Thanks guys!

took my rear wgeel in for a broken spoke and truing. Very impressed, and they were R90 cheaper for truing than 2 other bike shops in the area both starting with the letter C

well, there has been a large turn around in staff there too over the years, so peoples experiences with FPC can vary.

I have had bad servicing from them which prompted me to do a mech course with Johan Bornman, and I havent looked back since, so thanks FPC for pushing me over the edge.

Their prices have been ok when compared to other LBS in SA, but now I generally buy all I need from CRC, usually at 40% cheaper.

Pace and Power next door supplies me with my Endurashake, and lots of good advice, so visiting Megan every now and again keeps me popping into FPC for a look around.

Never had a bike serviced by them but have been there a number of times, prices are reasonable compared to other LBS, some part more expensive, some not. I inquired about a bike price once but was told the advertised price is what it is which is fair enough as i was not a known customer and unlikely to be repeat business.

I don't understand. So what they are saying is "we will screw you because you don't shop with us often enough". So I go to a restaurant once and only get 5 chips with my hamburger compared to the guy that goes every week and gets 7.

yep, thats pretty much how it works.

At a regular shop I go to , I dont get charged for my cup of tea with my toasted sandwhich as they see me often.

I know other guys who go from work who are not regulars that get charged

You make an interesting point! However stupid it sounds, some businesses work that way. It can also happen the other way around - many banks offer better deals e.g. finance rates to new customers to entice them to leave their current bank.

You would think it would make more sense to look after existing "loyal" clients a bit better?

I am the first to admit that our service haven't always been great and I'm to blame for that, because I took on more than I could handle. We are putting in a big effort to provide better service and I believe it is paying of.

We employed some great new guys in JHB (Christopher as manager and Desmond in the workshop manager) so give them a try - You will be impressed.

Mark - I Was in the store yesterday and saw you beaut new Niner - Congrats!

maks the difference to see a shop owner getting personally involved

Ol Chris Dutton was put in charge of the Paulshof branch recently, top guy. Takes the job at hand seriously and has the maturity to be a professional, no doubt he'll be getting things ship shape there in no time.

Maybe even stock some wicker baskets for those skinny tyred bikes.
