what camel bag you must use, why you cannot use a water bottle

Not to be an elitist or anything- but to diss us, you wil have to get the lingo right:

Camelbak (brand name hydration pack) :P

Have you ever ridden through standing water? (and i'm talking green/purplish water/mud that's too nasty for even the sun to bother) As the knobbies are a little thicker than normal roadie tyres, they tend to pick up this mud and gooi it onto your "water bottle that you cannot use".

Now i don't want you to get the idea that i'm not hardcore (i use Red Heart as mix with my Brannas) but to taste that water/mud... eish my friends, she's not pretty! :o

Hope that clears up some confusion! :D

Agree with TNT and Bat-ass.

I HAVE CYCLED ROAD FROM 1987 AT SCHOOL, HAD MY FIRST MTB IN 1995 AND NOT UNTIL RECENTLY HAVE I HEARD SUCH JUDGEMENTAL BITCHING AND MOANING ABOUT EVERYTHING BY MTB'ERS! J.F.R...JUST F.....G RIDE!

It all started with the Epic:

First it divided Mtbikers into those who have done the Epic and those who havent.

Then it divided those who haven't into those who wanted and those who didn't want to.

Then it divided those who wanted into those who got entries and those who missed out.

Then it divided those who missed out into those on the waiting list and those not on the waiting list.

Then it divided those .......

Before you knew it Mtbikers were fighting hand to hand combat in the trenches over shaving legs, wheelsize, waterbottles, tubeless.........

Nothing builds camaraderie like a good old down to earth punch up!

MTB vs those skinny wheel guys.

What you say???

Think they'll come at us with razor blades hidden in their compression socks?

SRAM XX

XX = double cross.

It is now very evident that the whole 29" ten speed phenomonon is a conspriacy to kill mountain biking. Those who are engaging in the "cutting edge" are actually double agents imported from the other side, to spy on and deceive those on the "fun side" of the island.

This conspiracy includes the importation of a lot of roadie technology, such as carbon fibre, gears, large wheels and long stage races on roads, which will gradually change the nature of riding from fun in the mud to dry dashes for the podium. (Why could they not just have taken up cyclo cross instead?)

The only way to counter them is to go thrash out the single tracks on a steel single speed HT bike.

And to split us further some cycling body decided MTB'ers needs some sort of stupid license and now I don't see a lot of my racing snake buddies anymore . BTW are there still races out there that does not need above sheeeet ?

well i have to admit that after purchasing a devils bike (29er) I actualy also purchased a road bike and a pair, ok ok , two pairs of white bibs!

If I swear and talk dirty about girls will it still make me a mountainbiker?

what about "mountainbikers" who dont have a peak on their helmuts? where do they fit in here?

It is not what you wear (unless you are entered into a single speed "race" or how you treat women that counts, it is a general attitude towards cycling that matters. A mtbker is special in a special school type of way. He/she/it only worries about what is important at the moment, which is definitely not how many races he/she/it has won in the past, but rather on how sweet the single track is now. Difficult to achieve impossible to understand. so the whole debate about technology, which is better ext is irrelevant, except for after a ride over a cup of coffee, and in a sort of "gee having two gears today would have made onion hill a bit easier" or " did you see how that 29er wheel fold like a pretzel on the down hill" or "you road that PnP special excellently, it was a blast when you had to finish without a breaks or gears or tyres">
