Subscribed to Tread Mag at the World Cup and got the free C02 bomb. Now for the stupid question, when we fly back to PE tomorrow, can the bomb be taken onto the plane in our stow-away luggage? Don't want a mid air cylinder exploding! :-)

I can't see how any airline will let you fly with your Co2 bombs(canisters),it's got nothing to do with the bomb(16grams of compressed air),but to do with what other possible contents inside the cyclinder might be. If you could take pepper spray onboard the aircraft, and you give it ONE good sqeeze ONLY, you will put that WHOLE aircraft out of action. Yes the WHOLE aircraft, the air inside a aircraft get re-used about 3 times before it gets dumped overboard and replace with a new parcel of airconditioned air. So to get back to the bomb, they will let you fly with it,on the condition you de-presurrized the canister infront of the check-in staff, the same goes for passengers that need oxygen....sorry,the airline will supply you with a both O2 bottle and the mask. It's for your safety and mine of course. I hope this will cancel the possible irratation you might have experience with them robbing you from your bombs at security :-)

Ok so whats the final answer? Is it staying in PMB or can I take it home?

If they don't see them, nobody is the wiser....

However, the actual rules:

All airlines except British airways: no Bombs uhh I mean C02 canisters

BA: 2 C02 canisters can be checked in

It depends what the security personel is like,if they know what they do, and do there job, your"bomb"will stay behind. The actaul 16 gram compressed air cannister posses no thread to a aircraft re explotions. Transporting a rino or some elephants is more of a risk :-)

Ag hel. It's worth R20, if you're in PMB then come get a free bomb from the Alexandra Guest House in Alexandra Road/Street. One only, first person gets it. We leave early, so will leave it at reception.

i've flown with it once, as check-in luggage. i totally forgot about them; only once i was on the plane, realised that it might be dangerous.

I had to go unpack my case and remove the bombs.Threw them away.

Last year my bombs were confiscated on a flight from CT to JHB. This year I put it in my check in luggage without any probs.

I just wonder... How did they ship the stock? I can just think that some of the companies use air freight to transport items like these all over. And I am sure that the canister would have passed rigorous testing to avoid explosions.

I think that fire extinguishers pose a much higher explosion ... Not
