  3. For great sessions - try the following podcasts! http://www.trihardist.com/search/label/podcast
  4. Rode out of D this year - unfit and fat! Held on to D for 30ks - dropped back after a rider put his front wheel into the rear derailleur of another bike just in front of me. Sat up and waited for E, held on to them until the 60km mark. Then gutsed it out to the end, hopping from small group to small group. Survived to finish in 2.58 - shocker of a ride, but satisfied with the outcome under the circumstances!
  5. Thanks Gerald24! great fun as usual!
  6. Omnico (distributors of Cannondale, Mongoose, Shwinn and GT) clear their old stock online on Obike www.obike.co.za
  7. +1 These are the business!!
  8. I went from a small Giant Anthem X1 26" to a small Giant Anthem X29 1 - so it's comparing like with like! To me the 29'er is marginally better in ALL aspects except for tight switchbacks. It climbs better, descends better and is quite a lot more forgiving on rough terrain. It weighs 420 grams more, but you would never say so. I am 1.7 m tall and weigh 65kgs (i.e small). For me there is no debate, it's clear-cut, the 29er is better.
  9. Hey.. I saw you dudes out there today.. was wondering what the story was with the big group!! You guys seemed to be having a good time.. huge smiles all round, and thanks for keeping the trail clear. My experience today was great - I didn't come across many folk on the Noordhoek Peak loop or on the single tracks, but those I did see were very friendly and I shared at least a greeting with every one of them!!! Stopped to chat with a few (some in 'spandex' and some not). I ride the trails often and like the feeling of community generally. BTW sometimes I wear 'spandex' and sometimes baggies - just depends on how sexy I feel!!!!!! : )
  10. Tokai, Silvermine and Noordhoek Peak on a typical Cape winter day - bliss!!
  11. Hey Nicolaas.... welcome! Some great advice here...some not so...Generally a good bunch though! Look forward to hearing more from you!
  12. Really nice to see such a comprehensive review - thanks!
  13. The Attakwas will give you a good idea of what a tough stage will feel like!
  14. Thanks to Tyrone from Cycle Lab who bailed me out big time at the sani2c by sorting out my bike which was mangled on the flight, despite it being after their workshop had closed and I was not one of their customers! Thanks dude - I owe you a cold one!

    Houwhoek tour

Once again - a fantastic tour! Conditions could not have been sweeter. It does not get a lot better than this! Fun was had by all - even my mate who face-planted off the "pofadder" yesterday finished with a smile on his dial (to go with the three stitches!).
  16. My kids both started on pedal bikes at 3 - both on 12 inch avalanche bikes (R600 or so). Go for it!
  17. I had a similar experience where I needed a front shock fitted in a hurry - my one and only visit to the store as I am from out of town - they did it on the spot!!!!
