Hi there,

I understand the organisers have gone for a really "farmstyle" website with next to no information on it but as an event that's supposedly one of THE best events in the country I'm blown away by the fact that 2 weeks down the line and 5 emails I've not had a single reply confirming substitution, name change or a rider communication email.

Surely 2 weeks prior to the event your office should be responding to mails? Especially considering the price one pays for this basic service and no other extras? I get the distinct impression that the Sani2c riders are not a priority to the organisers...? So far not been too impressed with this operation...let's hope they do a better job on event.

As for the seeding...guess competing in events like the BC Bike Race or J2C or Cape Epic let alone major events in WC etc don't count for seeding...sounds a little strange to me but ok I'll start at the back of the entire field!

Kind Regards

Website seems pretty OK to me, no pole dancers nor flashy lights but really wholesome and adequate

"Substitutions are now open

Here is how it works.

  • Click Register
  • Logon using your team number. Using the word TEAM, space hyphen space then the NUMBER eg Team - 1001
  • Your ID number is your Password
  • Choose Substitutions
  • Enter your substitute's details there. "

Log in links to the right of the page....

Not doing it myself, but I'm sure there should be a place to see/confirm current team members?

isn't joberg2c underway? maybe they just overestimated their ability to keep up with all the admin during this week?

seeding - you'll probably get a proper day2 seeding based on day 1's results.

i've done a sani2c, a nonstop and a joberg2c, and all of them exceeded all expectations - from the vanilla milkies on tap at the finish, watermelon at waterpoints, afternoon-naps in the shade, evening-slideshows of the days highlights, the smss that sweeps through the campsite every night to announce the next days seedings right down to the pink flowers in the bathrooms - they thought of everything.

but if in doubt, you could always let me know about a late substitution :D

I recently started doing tri-athlons / X-Terra's etc. I've also taken up running. This all is an effort to cross train a bit better for Cape Pioneer. I was shocked at how disorginised the running / tri-athlon / X-Terra scene is.

There is very little info on events, no websites, entry procedure is a mission etc, unless you enter one of the main events (Two Oceans, Comrades, X-Terra Knysna / Grabouw).

We in the cycling / mtbing field are spoilt in this regard.

I called this morning, she answered within4 rings and helped me out in a very friendly manner. In the past I have called Farmer glen and he's more than happy to help.

I hope that all of you riding Sani2c have sorted out your special voting papers so that you can vote before the event starts.

I did mine today and it was hassle free.

Take note that today is the last day to do it!

Okay so i did the special vote thing but it was a waste of time. All it means is that you can vote 2 days before the real voting day. Doesnt help as I leave for Durban this weekend and only come back after SANI.

I used the web site for substitution and it worked perfectly. I also used the site to add the shuttle service last week and it worked perfectly.

As for seeding, I would imagine it's like always you ride the first day and get seeded the 2nd day. I also think they take last years results for the first day which means as I have made a substitution this year Iwill be starting at the back with my dad.... Watch out for the flying Scotsmen.....I hope he keeps up cause I am not going to save him any beers at the end if he lags behind ha ha :-)

Also did a substitution on the site which was fine but it still shows my old partner's details in the 'new' team although it acknowledges that a substitution was made

If I am not mistaken you can go in and edit the details yourself by logging in. I remember changing the details myself then emailing. Is there a cut off time for substitutions? I have not checked.
