HI Guys

Bought a Scott Spark 20 (2011) 26er in Dec. Full Carbon, Spec as per the website. Was tempting myself down at the LBS and the store owner stated that he would trade the Scott for a new Giant Anthem X 29er with a minimal cash difference.

What to do? Scott is Carbon, awesome machine, lockout front and back but I have an opportunity to get into the 29er game at a very limited spend. The Scott when bought would have been much more expensive, but groupset, breaks etc all the same (Full XT, Dynasys)

What you guys reckon, keep the carbon Scott 26er or trade for the Alu Giant 29er?

(as an aside, I haven't ridden the Giant yet)

On the tar and the real rough stuff, I love the 29er. When it is very steep or long uphill I miss my carbon 26er.....pick your pain and pick your pleasure.

what riding do you plan on doing - If you going for longer events go for the 29er. I bought the anthem for the epic, had a 26er which I sold and I regret getting rid of it, only because its a different ride but if I had to choose just one I would take the 29'er

I am doing the Epic next year and that is the main consideration. Entered for a number of longer events, stage etc so that would be the primary reason. The Scott is a great bike but am considering what I am doing over the next year thought that the 29er may be the way to go.

Rather take that small amout you are going to pay in and purchase a 29er hardtail you can use to do all your training on, you seriuously can't do the Epic and race and train on the same bike it is just to expensive espicially on a dual suspension.

Take the 29er for a demo ride. a 50km with some single track should convince you either way. The Giant will definately get you thinking.. Love my Anthem 29er.

I ride both bikes. They both are awesome bikes. Really difficult to say this or that but I reckon I would keep the Scott and buy a nice hardtail 29er.
