Bottle Cage Mounts

Dade

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys.. and Girls.

On my Full Suss bike, I have trouble carrying an extra bottle or 2.

I do not like the Camebak / bladder setup much.

I am looking for a Seatpost Mount for a bottle cage. The Profile design one that has 2 bottles mounts to the Seats Rails, but that becomes tricky when doing steep-ish descents and needing to hang the "butt" over the back of the seat.

In short, any ideas where I can get A Seatpost mount for a Bottle cage (or 2) :D

Game/Makro etc sell a cheapie bottle cage with brackets that go round a tube. That tube could be a seat post...

SPECIALIZED make a good one, see above 2 brackets that attach to the seat post and then you bolt the cage onto the 2 clamps. Also recommend the SPECIALIZED cages. My SPECIALIZED cage broke (my fault) on the epic and it still held my bottle no problems.

If I remember correctly these are only for 30.9 seatposts ..... I use them

Use a piece of plastic pipe as a spacer for smaller seatposts.

Zefal makes what they call a "gadget" its 2 plastic pieces that go round the post and hold a nut, you bolt the cage to that and it stays put.

Then just get bottle and cage that fits tightly, it will go flying otherwise or maybe a sidecage so the bottle is against the bottom of the seat.

Also give the Giant bottles with the lid a go from Sportsmans warehouse they will kep the crud off the nozzle.

Use the same product on my Scott Spark. Comes in different sizes, so fits my 31.6mm seatpost. Was about R70 at Cyclefunatic in Durbanville.

I use a carbon bottle cage on mine and I've never lost a bottle on any kind of singletrack.

  • 11 months later...

I have the issue of loosing bottles out the seatpost mount cages, tried 2 cages so far, Trek Batcage & an old alu 1 i had. Batcage is def not good for vertical mounts. The Alu did a much better job but GF still got the bottle to jump out at Groenkloof, not even on anything crazy.

So what is the best cage that you've found out there that does the seatpost/vertical mount (without mods to cage) that seems to hold a bottle like glue? Riding a dual means i do decend like a hooligan most times?

Or do i just resort to making a holdy thing for the spout?
