Manne, ons wou ook gaan ry, maar modder is k nie lus voor nie! Beste wat hulle kan doen is om die event met n week aan te skuif!

One of the few reasons I now own a single speed. Brake pads are the only item I needed to change after woolsley. Ok so they not cheap at R200 per set but better than a whole new drivetrain. Also doing the race Sunday so that maybe 2 new sets this weekend. Unless I just use the old tacky on the wheel. Both races are going to fun. Hope to see some others there!!

For now the brakepads are cheap to replace, but in a few years you're gonna have to replace your knees! A bit more expensive than a couple of chains and clusters! Enjoy! Might just pull through to Swartland..

I have friends who run and their knees are always up to no good. Mine seem to be ok. I try to use my weight more than destroy my legs on the SS. I can't not drive just because people die in cars. I am not going to give up riding just because I may have knee problems later in life. Catch 22 I guess!!!

After your good result on the Meerendal climbs last weekend, I would not worry too much about the knees if I were you. They seem to be working spectacular, now if only mine were half as strong.

I also really want to ride. But yes, after the Wolsley race I had a massive repair bill, almost R1000, just for 1 day riding. NO.

Wow - that's what Karkloof race cost me also in Bike parts. Wosley only cost me two full days of my time stripping down the complete bike, and gearlevers etc. but I got away with mostly only water in the bearings but no mud got in.

I had to replace front and rear brake pads, R450, and a full service on my Specialized Dual suspension, R550. My bike was 2kg lighter after they took out all the mud and sand and water.

Looking at the route profile now it seems really flat and fast, and after the Meerendal torture last weekend I want to feel some speed. So I might go neway and just deal with the bike repairs as they come.

I'm doing the W2W 50km event on Sunday. Part of the 50km has washed away but they are trying to re-route it to keep the overall mileage. Hope it's not as wet and slushy as the Wolseley race - that race chowed my bike.
