I'm already on my third email from CSA today. It looks like they are busy clearing out the skeletons out of the closet. I'm going with it being a positive thing

(1) Cycling South Africa Finances (already being discussed in the https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/104057-csa-cycling-south-africa-in-debt/page__st__40 thread)

08 June 2011 – Following a meeting of the Board of CyclingSA, it has been noted that certain operating losses have been incurred. After thorough investigation it is clear that this predicament has been exacerbated by the untimely withdrawal of key sponsors ahead of the recent hosting of the MTB and BMX World Cup events.

While it has been a situation that was not necessarily brought on by the management of CyclingSA, the Board have however identified the need to manage the reoccurrence of such potential situations in future with a more conservative approach.

As a result of these findings, the Board has presented and ratified a financial recovery plan to rectify these losses and is currently working on the implementation and measurement of this plan.

The Board is confident of a full recovery from this predicament and is fully committed to working to deliver a sports administration that delivers on riders’ expectations.

(2) CyclingSA announces the resignation of its CEO Barry Mocke, with effect from 1 June 2011.

The Board has agreed that no immediate replacement be sought in the short term. Focus will be given to the consolidation of management at CyclingSA and the services provided by the organisation.

The above information has been shared with each provincial affiliation that in turn has assured the Board of their continued full support.

(3) The Board of CyclingSA, due to dissatisfaction with the hosting of the PE National Road Championships held in February 2011, commissioned an independent enquiry into the matter. Findings of this report can be found on our website (http://www.cyclingsa.com).

It is however imperative that the Board acknowledge that a more professional approach to the management of such an event is essential. It must be noted that it has been some time since CyclingSA has embarked on an event of this calibre, of which the logistics are challenging due to partnering with many independent service providers.

CyclingSA are currently planning and will communicate details of the Masters National Championship for 2011.

maybe they should use their email machine to promote events like the SA's, Track SA's and even WP Champs ... then we would not need to hear their lame excuses about "lack of entrants"

Good idea. Tank we need someone like you to maybe sit on their committee as a cyclist representative. Do they have something like that? If not, go and volunteer! You have my vote

Dont worry, I dont voice my concerns only on the hub, Ill send you a copy of the mail I sent regarding the WP champs "postponement". Ill happily do such a thing, its about time they get input from the cyclist.

They also need a lesson in using social & electronic media as marketing tool! Maybe then they will stop moaning about no one attending or supporting their events ... simply because no one bloody knows about it!

I think they only initiated the investigation now, therefore when the investigation is done you can find the report on the website. I hope.

They did put out a tender for a Marketing/PR/Media proposal.

So what, do they now need people to advertise that they are advertising tenders for advertising? FAIL!

I'm not sure what you're getting at? I'm just stating what I saw on their site last month, that's all.
