(Deon) Posted June 25, 2011 Share Carte Blanche??!! Full circle! My friend was one of the first to be involved in this jacking crap, he was actually featured on Carte Blanche since his case was quite extreme. He was shot and left for dead. Fade to years later and it is clear now that when they ran the story, there was no link to the bikejack 'industry'. If I remember correctly, the tone of the story was more about senseless attacks since they left his bike.. seems the gun attracted too much attention. It was too early to link his case to what is happening now.
MarkWildcat Posted June 25, 2011 Share I just submitted my story about a bike-jacking incident which happened to me and a mate towards the end of May in Mnandi. It needs to be hilighted and great Carte Blanche is getting the story out. What is needed though, is an investigation and to find the culprits, as I am convinced there is a large syndicate who buy the bikes cheaply from the jackers and sell them abroad.Oh, and they can hend them (the jackers and the syndicate owners) over to some of us who have had the unfortunate experience for a good kicking too. Christopher Brunsdon Posted June 25, 2011 Share I know I've been critical about Carte Blanche but its more because too many people rely on CB to be then end all. I do believe its important to share experiences with regards to jacking and more important how Hubbers where able to get through the trauma. Lets keep this topic alive on the Hub and not allow it fade away after the Carte Blanch titles have been shown.
ricochet_rabbit Posted June 25, 2011 Share Not to downplay the initiative in any way but there are always two sides to every coin and highlighting something like this on Carte Blanch could have the opposite affect. It could highlight to a number of unscrupulous people what easy targets cyclists are and thus increase bike jacking in areas where it never happened previously. just a thought

Gravity Sux Posted June 27, 2011 Share I got the same mail from Carte Blanche and have replied For those who dont think there is a syndicate, read on My company phone is programmed to synchronize with our server at predetermined periods during the day and weekdays.I got jacked 3 weeks ago just off Summit rd - R562, by the same 4 guys that nathrix reported yesterday in the same area. they took my phone as wellWhoever took my phone (wether it be some arb dude who bought it for R100 or someone else) put his SIM in the phone and synched it intentionally (or not) at 02h30 - after hours! The next day all his contacts appeared in my Outlook folder on my laptopThe names are mostly of Muslim persuassion, there is a few international numbers of places in Lahore and then one called Boss Digest that for a sec. I will meet with Carte Blanch for sure to see if we can get deeper into this This is bute... do you thing he has RICAd the SIM. Even if it was bought inadvertently it is still illegal to be in possession of stolen property. Guess the new 'owner' has some explaining to do. On a more serious note, a decent PI could probably make some headway with information like this. It would be useful to see if there is any link back to the bike industry. Clearly there are syndicates behind this crime.
