Please can somebody advise me. As a roadie, about 6 months ago I bought  a Mtn bike and started casual  riding and racing... But honestly I don't find it fun,  as I am constantly getting puntures.

I don't use  tyre liners as I was told they affect the riding performance. Tubeless are expensive and I believe they  also punture.

At Cradle to Cave I puntured 3 times at one time both back and front wheel at the same time...Now that is  JUST NOT FUN...

Please advise me... I am riding with Scott tyres which came with my Scott bike.. Plus what tyre pressures should I be using I have been riding at 2 bars.   ConfusedConfusedConfused

If you dont ride tubeless pump your tyres to about 3 bars. Use a decent sealant, sludge does wonders in tubes. You can always do a DIY tubeless convertion for cheap.

I would recommend OKO - works best in MTB tubes...

If you have the cash go for STANS my MAN... you can run about 2.5-2.8 BAR. The lower the pressure the lower the rolling resistance

Any tubeless conversion (eg. Stans) is absolutely worth it. Keep a tube in your tubby under the saddle and check it from time to time. It can chafe throug. Putting it in an old sock with babypowder helps. My tube is now 2 years old and only been used once - I hit a BIG rock really hard on the second last day of the Epic. Threw the tube in and completed the race like that. Back home I patched the tyre (Larsen Crossmark UST) on the inside with nice big thick car patches and I am using it for training (tubeless)

that would teach you! next time by a vodacom bikeWinkLOLBig%20smileTongue

LOLLOLLOL I thought the  same thing

And I didn't know Mtn rode Scotts Wink thought it was raleigh

On more serious note I have been riding with Dr Sludge tubes almost since I bought my bike. Bought a set in Feb before a big race and then another in July before another big race. I believe my first ones would have been fine but I just didn't want to risk it. As Para says you'd still get punctures but until now they haven't given me problems...(knock on wood...)

I think 2 bar is too little unless you weigh the same weight as your bike. Been riding with slime and tyre liners for about 2 years now and have yet to lose any time with a puncture. As far as affecting my perfomance in a race the top dogs have no fear of me.

... and if you go for STANS you can always add a cup of OKO which will take care of the bigger holes.

What is OKO. Sorry for my ignorence

another sealant which is available - chat to your local bike shop
