Cracker pictures bru. Looks weird to see all the lifts and tracks and mountains with no snow. Do yourself a favor and go back there in winter , without yr bike and a set of skis or a snowboard under your arm. Rocks.

@ Crashtose. It was THE BEST 2 weeks of my life. And cheap. the whole thing will cost you less than 20k. GO. just go.

@Benjamin. Have you been in Winter? What's it like? I tried to convince the wife to do a ski/snowboard trip but no dice so far.

@caad. There's stuff for roadies there too dude. You can ride to Avoriaz from Morzine. a tdf stage finished there in 2009 and the Dauphine went through Les Gets 2 or 3 weeks before we got there.

Not to that exact valley but over the mountain . Been to Austria a few times and to Italy and Switzerland. If you enjoyed the mtb there, skiing will blow your mind. Full day of skiing followed by a few hours at apreski pubs on the slopes as sun goes down. V v special. It Italy we skied at Sestrierre, same place as the TDF went through this year.

First time I ever saw snow was in Switzerland. First day of ski school, dude heard we were saffas, could surf and ride skateboards, so basically straight up the slopes and by the afternoon could operate. Takes a few more days to get it properly but then you are away, can ski down any slope and go anywhere ( just depends how fast). My wife absolutely loves it, would go every year if we could afford it......

Sweet. I can surf, wake and skate a bit so snowboarding for me. I have to convince the wife. It's so breathtakingly beautiful there. Mad.

For next years trip (oh yes) I reckon I'm going to try organise that the wife comes with and we go to Paris or Rome the week before Morzine. Then she stays 2 or 3 days in Morzine with me to check out the scene and how ridiculously amazing it is. Then she jumps on a plane and I ride for 10 days. That's my dream trip.

I'm not sure if I should thank you or curse you for posting this!

Jokes aside, it's wonderfull to see what you guys did, even if it gave me a serious envy-attack that will probably only be cured by French medicine!

Lol. You need to go there. Whistler is a 60k trip and it takes 3 days to get there. France is 1 day of travel each way and the trip will set you back less than 20k.

Every mountain biker irrespective of ability and discipline should go there at least once. I can't even begin to describe how incredible it is.

If I could use surfing as a metaphor it's like they took J Bay, G Land, the north shore, the Mentawai Islands and put them all in the same place. And it's offshore and cooking every day. With hardly anyone out. And there are jetskis so you don't have to paddle out.

...I'm starting a special savings fund for a 2012 trip. From now on only essential CRC orders. All other "bike money" is for "France or bust"

That's the spirit.

I'll put you onto cheap accommodation and a cheap airport shuttle. Try and time your trip for the start of the season. The trails have less braking bumps then. Also. There's a 80km multi stage dh race called the passport du soleil. I want to do that race next year. The race marks the opening of the Portes du Soleil region but Morzine and Les Gets (4 mountains) are open before that so my plan is hit Morzine and Les Gets the week before the race. Do the race and then head over to Chatel and the swiss side for the rest of the time

My pleasure. I'm going back every year until I die. The riding there is just on a completely different level.
