davetapson Posted October 3, 2011 Share Well, got the top coat on this weekend, so we are back in business. Need to regrease the bearings, clean up the races, start reassembly. Will probably go with blue as the alternative colour - LBS has blue tyres / handlebar tape etc. and the saddle the bike came with is blue... Waiting for me CRC stuff to arrive as well. davetapson Posted October 3, 2011 Share The frame is still black! You can't tell the difference (much) between matt black primer and matt black top coat!
davetapson Posted October 8, 2011 Share Ok - back on track with the project.... Went to visit TW this morning, and this is what I got (not the saddle, that came with the bike...) Blue Maxxis DetonatorsBlue Bar TapeFour tubes - two to go on the wheels, two spares for if I get brave enough to commute now and then by fixie. davetapson Posted October 8, 2011 Share While visiting TW - always an expensive business ;-) I also picked up my rebuilt GT with replacement frame from GT. Upgraded from an iDrive 4 1.0 to a Sensor... seriously pretty bike. Many thanks to Paul from ProCycles for organising and building for me - nice job!! Note: It's a One Point Zero. It even tells you in words in case you miss it the first time...
davetapson Posted October 8, 2011 Share So I decided to take my pedals off my boets bike which I used for commuting while waiting for the replacement frame, and the one pedal won't budge (yes, I know the one pedal has reverse threads) so I lent on the allan key - which slipped - and palm hits straight on to a worn chain ring... eina. Three stitches. o.O Edit: On going back to takle the pedal again, I find the allen key didn't slip, the pedal actually loosened - so at least something positive came out of the experience. GT now has pedals, and gonna commute this evening - first proper ride - woo hoo!! Edited October 10, 2011 by davetapson
davetapson Posted October 8, 2011 Share Anyway - when the hand isn't so eina anymore, will be taking this stuff to the wheels. May as well bling them up a bit. Got some goodies coming from CRC too, which will let me finish this project off...
davetapson Posted October 12, 2011 Share Front wheel polished up, rim strip, tube and tyre fitted. Wheel mounted on frame - WooHoo!! is transforming from a bunch of bits to a real bike. No pic because it was late and my hands were covered in polish residue - will try get one up tonight...

LeTurbo Posted October 12, 2011 Share so I lent on the allan key - which slipped - and palm hits straight on to a worn chain ring... eina. Ugh. Done that too. Went straight through my thumbnail. Amazing how sharp those teeth get. Nice work on the bike.
