Do a search - there are about a million threads on the subject. What is "relatively tight budget"? Give us a Rand price and we will help you Cheapest carbon 29er by far is the Felt - relatively poor built kit and crazy colour scheme though.

Agreed, as I am colour blind, it works for me though - but don't expect it to be any lighter than normal frames (whatever they're made off...) :-) I guess you are referring to the Nine Elite ligth blue, which even came with light blue spokes... Eeeew.

Eeeew.Willie Engelbrecht stripped a Felt Elite for a client and the frame was extremely light but don't recall the exact weight. Wheelset is heavy and coloured spokes are gruesome but on your budget you can upgrade the wheelset to something lighter and more tasteful.Maybe first try a test ride, varying builds and geometry will change the way the bike handles and what is suitable for one person won't work for the next one.

Momsen sl929 with full XTR and FSA carbon flatbars is R45000.If he were to buy a Momsen frame for 15k, and his R30k was the maximum budget,the spec would be relatively low and for such a nice frame might be disappointing.Momsen frame R15kAM Classic 29er wheelset R5kX0 groupset R12kThats without the stem,, saddle, seatpost and bars.For R32k.
