Hi Guys,

I would love to ride during the week, but dont have the opportunity. I do however have an IDT. Anything wrong with training on IDT twice a day for an hour. Ideally I would prefer 1 x 2 hour session, but time does not allow for this so have to break it up into 2 x 1hour sessions, 3 x a week then crack a nice long ride Sat 3hr (road) and Sun 2hr (MTB)

I dont imagine there to be an issue, but one never knows.

Suppose it depends on what your goals are, but I trained for Ironman earlier this year and 90% of my bike training consisted of 2x60 min rides to and from work everyday...

Eddy Merckx best advice for young cyclists was "Ride lots" so never underestimate that

We used to do a 4-5 hour road ride in the mornings, and then an interval or speed session in the afternoons, so yeah, go for it.

Biggest problem I can see is you will probably be bored out of your mind.

Well I would anyway, and when I get bored I stop or don't even start. Maybe you are differant but just sitting and turning pedals doesn't do it for me I am afraid, 10 minutes on an IDT and I pack it in, 20 minutes on the trainer at the VA is about all I can handle, and that's only because there is activity around me, I can live with a 40 minute spinning session maybe twice a week as its constantly changing and its kind of exciting, but after three a week twice a day like you suggest, I would get tired of it as well.

For me the allure of cycling or running is the change of scenery, watching the world go by as it were, just mindlessly doing the same route day in and day out...........Uh-Uh, .....I would have given up years ago.

......I think you will be bored brainless after a month and stop, why not do a few gym sessions instead, break up the monotony, spin twice, two IDT sessions, throw a few weights around twice or maybe just ride the trainer at the local VA and people watch on the other days. I just think Cycling on your own is really boring.

It does get boring on the IDT, But I have some goals and no other choice. Good time to catch up on some TV series I have fallen behind on or listen to some audio books....

A while ago I recall reading that 2 x shorter sessions in a day were more beneficial than 1 x long session. Something to do with keeping your metabolism up.

During your 1 st session manage your intensity so you have some woema left in the 2nd session.

It is a fantastic way to train intelligently.

Be careful for training too much. Get enough rest though.

Double sessions not recommended for consecutive days.

Good luck!
