Same problem. Buying a brand new strap fixed it ;)

Using Polar's advice I now rinse the strap after every ride and throw it in the washing machine once a week and I haven't had a problem again

If you want to prolong the battery life of your transmitter, then you should either remove the strap as soon as possible or just unclip one side of the transmitter from the belt. Otherwise it keeps on sending reading to the receiver which is "switched off".

Thanks, I'll give it a go in reverse. First a good warm wash in the washing machine, and if still no joy I'll try a new strap. But I do rinse it in cold water after most rides.

Had a 725x since 2006 (I think - it's a hell of a long time ago). The only problems I have with it always relate to the contacts - keep them clean and the problems go away.

I think I've washed the strap (which is beginning to look a bit ropey, but still works fine) in the washing machine twice. Otherwise, I just wash it in the shower while I'm showering, with whatever soap is in the shower at the time. Polar reckon the stuff in shower soaps / gels will cause problems with the belt picking up signals - I've never experienced this.

Just make sure you rinse the terminals on the transmitter and on the belt and all will be fine.

If you watch can't pick up signals because of the bars / carbon fibre, just rotate it around the bar until it can see the sensor. Maybe you won't be able to see it, or have to twist your head to see it - if it's not too bad, maybe you can live with it.

Personally I love it.

Garmin or Polar? wacko.gif

My RS 800 CX POLAR keeps saying "Check WearLink". Battery fine. Very frustrating. cursing.gif Seriously looking at a Garmin.

Any advice on what my POLAR's problem could be or how to fix it? Tried online searches but no luck thus far.

do a complete factory reset of the unit, i had a similar problem with mine on the speed sensor, there is a hard reset and factory rest, be sure to do a complete factory reset, will find the link i used to get to the internal services menu on the watch and send to you shortly.

Luckily (even tho the OP has fixed his original garmin mistake post) I've got both Polar and Garmin products:

Garmin 500:

Main bitch: Takes +/- 2 minutes to find satelites at start up.

Second Main bitch: Loses satelites (and indicated speed suffers) whenever there are more than a few tree's above.

Third bitch: Garmin Training data download / training log software does not compare to other opposition products, i.e. Polar Pro trainer 5

Polar CS400 and RS800:

Main bitch: Suffers inteference (HR and speed) when riding close to power lines or train power lines.

Second bitch: New style "soft cloth" Chest straps long term reliability, straps stop working after a few months, even if all cleaning instrauctions are followed.
