not convinced by the Elgar dismissal. I think england got lucky here, as Reiffel probably gave it out on the sound from bat on ground, and doubt england would have reviewed if not out with only one review left.

same thing happened to Joe Root in the Ashes a few years back, and they were not happy!....https://archive.siasat.com/news/drs-controversy-hits-ashes-series-snicko-hotspot-fail-joe-root-515258/

I know the snicko/ultra edge is supposed to be a spike, and the murmur seen was not much of a spike, could have been elbow on pad - I wonder how much training the 3rd umpires have. always harder with spinners too when the keeper is standing up. BUT at the end of the day, this is a tight call, and benefit to the batsman doesn't apply anymore. The whole system has improved to a point where we now debate over tight calls but the obvious howlers have been eliminated - we can be thankful for that.

This....

Im comfortable for the really really close calls to go either benefit of batsmen or not, but be consistent on which stance you taking! It seems that its against the batsmen.

Miles ahead of where we were and that can only be a good thing!

agreed, i've never come across anyone so in love with the sound of his own fake pommie accent...

Yeah. He was hugely annoying as a player, and somehow as a commentator upped those levels

Happy for Malan. I think this inning alone should buy him some good graces from the selectors.

Would be great if he can convert this into a century in the 4th innings of his debut test.

I'll happily take the blame if it means my superpower is that two lines of text from my keyboard can have a physical manifestation on a sports-field which is located 1500km away.

On that note:

There is absolutely no way in which there will be any other result in this test match than a win for England.
