The conditions were pretty good this year besides the wind a bit on the way back yesterday.

Started late for the Ultra as my boet had to 'ablute' and them toilets were shocking! Then had an issue with my rear derailleur at about 28k's meaning a limited range of gears but still had a blast, my best time by far in both :)

Conditions were just about perfect with only a slight breeze on the last stretch of district road and pretty mild temperature wise. I had a good first half making up some good time on the climbs but I think I paid for that in the last quarter of the race. I lost touch with my group at the 75km waterpoint and spent the entire final district road stretch struggling on my own. At least there was no one around to hear my choice language abusing everything from the corrugations to myself for riding a hardtail on that route. The last few km's after Sorry Hill had me cursing the hardtail even more but I still managed my best result ever. Official time of 4h11 and 8th in Vets.

Strong ride! Also did it on the hardtail but found it ok, the last stretch tested my resolve :whistling:

I feel you! That Zinkplaat just before the last tar road section, followed by the uneven grass section after the rock climb tested me a bit.But all is fair. Was not expecting it to be a walk in the park.
