Sean, notice the big smiley behind the kick butts statement and the singular picking on City Cycles. It was meant as a very friendly jibe to another club that we often see in passing.

Your named list would beat us hands down, but that is not the point. I just thought it may be fun if some clubs took up the challenge of riding as a club in one of the non-league groups. Probably something similar to the way the DC works. The hot riders would be in league leaving the rest of the less serious riders to have a bit of fun interclub rivalry.

Ok cool :-) Next time we have a club event like the Century City Festival Crit or other race event we'll put your club on the list. We normally open up entries to all clubs and MC2 club always pitches up. See you on the road somewhere.

we tried to hit the descent hard to see if we could get close to the front group (narrowly missing a taxi who was, well, just doing what taxi's do i guess...) , but the front group had bolted, nowhere in sight.

The front bunch of 17 odd riders that dropped you contained 3 Cyclelab riders who were chasing Tarmac (Aurecon), me (Anderson), Neil Swarts (Cape Storm) and Andydude (Brothers Sport) - we broke in the first 5k's. They didn't catch us until I snapped a spoke (lucky old me) and had to have a quick pitstop at the 70k mark so I'm afraid there was not much chance of you guys catching them.

can't say i'm looking looking forward to the cobra next sunday - that's really going to hurt!

oh yes.

Dude, I think you should give me your bike to drive over...... too many technical issues at almost every race (as far as I can remember). Sheesh, at this rate you might just take the end of season prize for the person with the most DNF's due to technical issues tongue.png wink.png (if there is such a thing).

Ah, OK. carry on then.

That's how I read the results.

No doubt that the man had some technical hassles this 2011/12 season, thus far.

May it be the last.

If nothing else, Gerard Genis's invaluable contribution to the outriders has been to get some of the non-league riders to enjoy the benefits and fun of riding in a well organised team. Hopefully some of this will rub off and we can get some of the other clubs doing something similar. We often see City Cycles with large groups on their training rides for example. We know the Outriders would kick their butts in a team event :>)

City Cycles is a cycling shop & i don't think they have cyclists riding in their kit (i don't even think they have kit). City Cycling & Athletic Club commonly known as City Cycling Club had a few riders at yesterdays event. go to www.citycyclingclub.org if you want to find out more about us.drool.gif

Ah, I found a rule:

Rule #67

/ Do your time in the wind

Nobody likes a wheel sucker. You might think you’re playing a smart tactical game by letting everyone else do the work while you sit on, but races (even Yellow Sign Sprints) are won through cooperation and spending time on the rivet, flogging yourself and taking risks. Riding wheels and jumping past at the end is one thing and one thing only: poor sportsmanship.
