Hi all - we've been using Suikerbos as LSD training with hills for the epic.

As I grind my way around, I wonder:

What are the records for:

1. Road bike?

2. MTB?

And the next thing I wonder is, what would a really good time be for a full circuit (i.e. something that the average joe / joette could feel chuffed about achieving?), also on road/mtb....

Who's gonna 'fess up to their times :)

Me, for LSD, on a MTB, with knobbies, it's about 3h30 - won't be trying to smash out a quick one until after the epic...

I usually lap between 2:05 and 2:30, depending on how tired i'm feeling and whether it's my first or second lap.

I've only broken 2 hours once.

My goal is to do three laps though. I don't know what it is about the reserve, but it manages to make 110km feel like 200km. Did two laps on Monday in the rain and I haven't felt that exhausted in a long time!

Yeah my time is usually just over two hours on a road bike, normally like 2h10 / 2h20 for the 58km loop.

Never broken 2 hours, my fastest lap ever being 2h04!

For those that are yet to to train at "The Bos" perhaps one of the regulars can publish a profile

(make sure you have distance as the x-axis and not time)

Gaaaaaahhhhreeeeee and I passed you on the long hill. We were both in Standard Bank kit.

We were amused that you were brave enough to ride in the rain and your supposedly hardcore clubmate, Epoh, didn't come because he didn't "want to ride with wet shoes". smiley36.gif

Wuss.

For some not completely clear reason we decided to ride out to Suikerbos on Sunday alongside the rail tracks and then via the dirt roads into SB - got stuck ON the road - wheels completely clogged.  Stopped to push out some git who was driving past laughing at us and then promptly got stuck himself.

Wet shoes?  Up to the knees in sludge was more like it...
