I have some from Northern Farm, quite nice. Down near Hoekwil on my rides the cows come over too if I stop for pics. Maybe just inquisitive beasts! Edited.....spelling, finger trouble. It is commonly known as a robber fly. Family Asilidae. They prey on smaller insects, commonly bees and other flies. I have attached a close-up pic of a similar insect (pic taken with something a bit optically more high end than a phone so I hope it qualifies here).
