Baster Brak Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 So i have just dropped the kids of at school driving home and listening to the radio when the outsurance ad comes up telling me that if i am a female ,27 years old then i can get life insurance for as little as R3 per day, and that if i cant afford it then i will need to give something up like just polishing 9 nails, bur then there is an up side IF I DONT CLAIM ON MY LIFE INSURANCE FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS I WILL GET 10% OF MY PREMIUMS BACK, DUH, MAJOR DUH if i claim on my life insurance i dont think i would care about getting 10% back now would i, how dumb must you be to sanction a stupid add like this, if i claim on my life insurance you can shove your 10% dude, i dont think i would then be trying to claim it now would i

I think the jist is really that by not claiming you get something back while still alive, a kind of incentive to buy with them because hopefully you will live longer than 5 years, whereas in traditional Life Insurance you get nothing back, its a purely one sided arrangement while to are alive.

I'd agree with GOG here - they kinda missed the plot with their wording.

I've got life cover but it also includes disability cover, terminal illness etc. so the ad makes perfect sense. Well perhaps to those of us who acually take a moment to think about it. Life insurance in short is something that will pay out if something should happen to you (e.g. disability), in order for you to maintain a certain standard of living. Should you die, your family can maintain said standard of living. Should you live, you get a couple of bucks back. You win all the way (depending on policy options). I think Baster is pissed off because of the Nail thing... PS, first for women discriminates against men: But we live with it... Boys will be boys...
