There are quite a few showers at the venue, obviously the earlier you finish the more chance you have of a hot shower. Mail Jackie at gansbaaimtbfunride@gmail.com and she should be able to organise a Saturday room for you if you would like one. There is also a farmhouse about 7kms up the road that might be available if you are a group.

I'm really disappointed but going to have to miss this event as as I've just found out that my wife has four wedding cakes to deliver on the Saturday. Quite unusual for her to have so many orders in winter (she's runs a wedding cake business). And it's quite a long drive there and back for one day (although may yet reconsider this!!). Next year for sure. Looking at some of your online clips of the weir and singletrack, and feedback from previous years, it seems that this will be one super event. Best of luck!!

Aj, the bike and results aspirations are half as important as what type of riding you like.

If you like gravel roads and long sections where you can put the power down and string out the bunch, testing your strength and endurance, do the 60.

If you like a rougher ride with almost no district road, lots of technical riding and want to test yourself on an overall level and not just your legs, do the 45.

The 45/48 is more exciting, the 60 is faster and longer. Both will take you about the same if you are a strong rider when it gets technical.

Hairy, don't bring the SS. Bring the shova and do the 45. You'll love it!

Shotto ... the 60km sounds like a Dirt Roadie ride :whistling:

Edzaktomondo sir. It are indeed.

But different strokes for different folks. Having done both I see the value in hosting for both. It stretches resources, but Corrie has a brilliant team behind him. This race could serve as a model for some of the other organisers out there.

Thanks Philip - Jackie has been awesome! Had to do very little this year, so have been able to work on the route with Alwyn!

Some more important information regarding race day!

There will be fires going all day! Early morning coffee on the house.

Hot showers, and farm style burgers, chicken wraps, sandwiches and then some healthy eats (salads, nuts etc - Staci is going all out) as well as juices, coke, and other drinks will be for sale. This will be finalised next week as we might add soup if it looks like it could be cold.

Leon Carstens will be providing some live entertainment as well as a very good sound system! We will also be showing some mountain bike clips to keep those who stay behind entertained.

Prizes include loads of shark dives and whale trips, awesome accommodation at Grootbos and other great Overberg hide aways. Horse trails and a great beachcomber hike also included.

There will also be a hike going up the mountain behind Franskraal to the natural dams and viewpoint. Cost R30, leaving from Panorama restaurant at about 8h15. There will also be loads of happenings at the festival including a beer tent and big screen. We will put up a link to the full festival programme when it becomes available.

Goose, what's the waterpoint situation on the 45km route? On the route profile I could only find one WP. I am usually carrying one bottle and fill up at the WP on the route. So a bit worried about running out of water.

You will have access to water and coke three times on the route. We are still finalising the last water point and should have that done by Saturday, and will then add that to the profile
