Thanx, that’s flat!

I easily averaged 30km/h on the 70.3 this year, what should a realistic average be for the Ironman?

Like the other chap said that is difficult to answer but I wouldn't think you would be unrealistic to expect +-32kph average if you get a decent day weather wise. Just remember to keep fueling yourself and stay as aero as possible and you will be fine.

That's a difficult question (an one I keep asking myself everyday).

You need to save your legs more at IM, than 70.3 (for the much longer run) so I guess a realisitic average is still around 30-32km/hr.

Yip, my legs will need a lot of saving. The run is going to hurt like hel!

How's the training going guys ?!

3 1/2 weeks to D-DAY !

Training's good on the other side of the world. It will be nice to experience consistent temperatures above freezing.

Does anyone know the current ocean temps in the swim area near Hobie Beach? While we're at it, what have the race day water temps been historically. The race info mentions temperatures as high as 24.5C but that seems pretty warm.

Thanks for any info,

Hugh

I've started planning the finer details of the IMSA weekend and have some questions for the seasoned guys amongst us that have been through the process before:

1. According to the rules, we have to have reflective markers on the front and back of your shoes and clothing - what do you guys use for this and where can I get some? Would the reflective writing on my tri shorts be sufficient for the clothing part?

2. Is it correct that we have to take an ID photo to race registration? What on earth for?

3. Anything else that I might have missed? Tips for the day....?

1. Just finish before it gets dark then it wont be a problem.... :whistling:

2. Just need to take you ID book to register. No need for a photo its just so that you cant race with someone else's entry.

3. Eat on the bike for the run... Not just GU and carb drinks but solid food like a sandwich/baby potatoes/bananas. When you start your run it is too late to only start eating then.

I see Raynard Tissink just entered. Will be great to see him there even though he says he is "not racing". Just wait for that gun to go off!!

If it was just for fun he would be age grouper but he has entered as a PRO.

He can only enter as a PRO. You can't change from being a PRO to being an age grouper from race to race.
