Hi All what Rear Derailer is better

My first choice is a

Shimano XT RD M770 Rear Derailer 9Spd

Deore XT rear derailleur delivers reliable and precise shifting with a stiff and lightweight open design Rapid Rise.All-alloy construction leads to lower weight without compromising strength and durability.

Four fluorine-coated link pin bushings make this one of the slickest shifting derailleurs on the trails

High rigidity wide outer link braces the pulley body to increase pivot joint rigidity

Mega9 compatible for use with 9-speed drivetrains

Durable sealed bearing tension pulley for low friction and smooth running of the drivetrain

Low normal spring uses the spring to select lower gears, best suited to use with Dual Control levers

Top normal spring uses the spring to select higher gears, best suited to use with Rapidfire shifters

Rubber bumper reduces noise when used on non-conventional frame designs

and my second choice

Shimano XT 772 Rear Derailer 9Spd

Shadow features a super low profile design that reduces the risk of damage from trail side hazards

Single tension spring prevents contact with the chainstay resulting in a silent ride

Direct cable routing prevents snagging from any trail side hazards

All-alloy construction leads to lower weight without compromising strength and durability

Four fluorine-coated link pin bushings make this one of the slickest shifting derailleurs on the trails

High rigidity wide outer link braces the pulley body to increase pivot joint rigidity resulting in a crisp shift

Strong return spring for a positive shifting feel

SGS cage for use with triple chainsets

Mega9, 8 & 7 speed compatible

Durable sealed bearing tension pulley

Top normal spring for use with Rapidfire shifters

I have the one with the silver cage, over 11,000km and no issues. I have replaced the jockey wheels once with the Tracx ones offered by CWC.

not much difference in deraleurs.. BUT the day I got XTR shifters. :w00t: .Deraleurs might be slightly stiffer and lighter the better they get, but If you want a fat change in performance get a XTR shifter..I smile everytime I shift a gear - also keep your cables clean

Hi, TX ALL BOTH COST THE SAME R 699.

I think i will go with the 770 as I have Aleavio rapid fire shifters.

Running XTR shfters with an XT rear dr, and it ROCKS. You can't go wrong either way, so pick the one that works for the colour scheme

Got a better quote on the XT than the XTR shifters and i have a silverback saturn the white one.

in my opinion the best Shimano 9sp RD is the Saint. I love mine and have never had issues with it.

I know it's not used in all applications...

- it is super compact (ie. keeps out of the way of rocks),

- it has a skid-plate for those times you do find the rocks.

- The spring is super stiff, which keeps the chain nice and tight...

- and lastly... just look at it!

BTW, SLX is also a good route. Highly underated, but shifts well and nice and robust. Also no issues with that. My 3rd bike is running SRAM X0, so not allowed to talk about that under this topic
