What's in there that's banned? No way there's still ephedrine or even pseudoephedrine in that stuff.

A few chaps just had a little sweat right now after that bombshell. I seem to recall that after those two rugby players failed a drug test and were on USN products, USN made a statement that none of their products had banned substances.

Who here race VA's and religiously check what they take in i.e. supplements, vitamins, medicine, food etc?

When I raced VAs (I think my best ever was one top 10) I did do this. I told the doc.

So I got sick, and the Doc is paging through the book: nope, you can't take that, next, nope, not that one, ....

On the plus side, I've gotten off a few "normal" meds that had side-effects, so even though I don't race vets anymore, I still stick to that list unless I'm in hospital. I feel healthier. You'd be surprised what kind of crap is in over-the-counter allergy meds.

(I think you can get into trouble in the open bunch too -- if they ever test)

No wonder I got dropped. I hope the Cycletour will adjust my position and issue a new certificate to hang on my wall :P

I don't think that was the reason you got dropped ;)

I have tippex and a permanent marker, no need to waste paper and reprint. Or just put a big -1 after your placing. 827th has a nice ring to it...

USN's official line on WADA prohibited ingredients in their products: http://www.usn.co.za/page/elite-sport/elite-athletes-12.html/

Clear as mud I say.

Maybe a safe bet is to stick to brands like Hammer that have limited product ranges containing natural ingredients. Their stuff seems to be used by a lot of Elite athletes who would be subject to testing.

Cadence Nutrition is probably also a safe bet.

As far as I know the 2012 edition has one of those two in it.

Beware boys....you WILL get tested positive!!

And that is my point......

Some of us out there are actually TRYING our best to stay within the rules but can't effectively know what is in what.

Another example......nice good bag I just got from R4S.

There are a COUPLE of Vitamins goodies etc in it......nothing on the labels......

Will I get a positive should I take it?

No one knows......

As a note....EPO is a natural substance??? Not so??

Point being not all natural stuff are legal?!?!?!??

Money talks?

No one knows.

He was, when he got busted, a member of the Cycle Lab 30+ race team. He won his category in the Argus last year, as well as some other races.

Does that mean I move up one position?! Yeeehaaa

Ephedrine is not used any more and pseudoephedrine is now a scheduled drug so nothing over the counter and no supplements contain it. Guys were using it to make tik so it got canned as an over the counter ingredient. Thinz used to contain it but not for a few years now.

Not sure about the rest of the ingredients but those two I am pretty certain of. It would be impossible for USN to use them.

As a side note on that.....it has now been downgraded again.

You can get Sinucon OTC but in limited quantities. Great for flu but contains small amounts of Ephidrine. Enough to have it at DrugfreeSA as "permitted outside racing".

So you can get it OTC these days again.

Tik boys.....take note. ;)
