Agree with MNTboy, they should've fired him at the end of 2016. Now Rassie has to start from scratch again, with the English on their way here.. Less than 2 years out from the WC. Well done SARU #sarcastic clap

Roux and Alexander should also be shown the door and someone competent with the interest of SA rugby at heart appointed. It's no use we keep on appointing new coaches but off the field amateurs are running the show. Just look at soccer in SA to find an example of how NOT to do things. SA rugby is quickly sinking to the same level as Bafana...

Let's see what Rassie can do. I'm not holding my breath, although anyone else will surely do better than Totti did!

Sjo! Mbeki wasn't too bad, at least not compared to Zuma!

Ja I dunno about Rassie hey.. He didn't achieve much with the Cheetahs. But his record at Munster is pretty good, and everyone hold him in high regard. SA rugby has just too many "issues" for anyone to really take the boks to No1 in the world. Transformation targets, provincialism, player exodus, financial constraints etc..

As long as we don't lose against the likes of Italy and Arg ever again!

Rassie is held with very high regard here in Cork. I he been told on more than one occasion they are worried about the boks when Rassie takes over. Time will tell.... Edited by Stretch

Ja - I think it was bound to happen, surprised the AC has put up such a fight to stay on - was a bit disappointed that he resorted to pulling the race card.

meh. I think AC is a way better coach than his bok record suggests (he's way better than P.Divvy). But he clearly lost the plot along the way. The 2016 was a disaster, but I do think it was the right thing to give him a second year so there really aren't any excuses.

I also reckon 2 years is just fine. This whole planning for the next world cup is a bit of a stalling tactic. We have the best player resource in the world, just got to get them playing together with the right guy calling the shots.

Oh and when they can finally find a way to get the politics out of SA rugby we will be untouchable - I'm using the blitzboks as an example.

Anyone watch them Irish Vs France last night. Superb try by the French and then a 40m drop after 41 phases by sexton in extra time to win the match. Absolute discipline by both teams in those 41 phases

No but heard about it. Did watch the Wales v Scotland match and man that was an entertaining match. The Scots were under the pump the whole match as the Welsh just grew in confidence throughout. The Irish and the English might find that they won't be an easy win at all. Still think that they will be better than the Welsh but it'll be more of an even contest.

Their records suggest otherwise. PDiv won the tri-nations, he had one of the best win% against the AB's, he won a series against B&I Lions... Granted, he inherited a WC winning team from Jake White. BUT, Eddie Jones has shown that a good coach can take a losing group of players and turn them into winners. At the stormers AC achieved nothing other than a couple of conference wins and semi finals. Despite having amazing talent in his squad (Schalk Burger, Jaque Fourie, Habana etc) and very good assistant coaches (Nienaber - best defensive coach in the world?). He is an average coach at best and should never have been appointed in the first place.

SA Rugby is one sick family.

The decline of the Bokkies started years ago.

There's been fraud goeters, coaches being appointed and fired under strange conditions

And systemic racism all-round with regard to player selection and so on

I will never work for a company like that

And, always blaming the coaches, yet not backing them, just sacking them

Not doubting or disagreeing with everything else you wrote but this here is probably my biggest gripe with SA Rugby. Irrespective of your view concerning transformation/quota's their handling of this has been nothing short of atrocious and demeaning to players, coaches and supporters. There doesn't seem to be any clear thinking or engagement on the topic and as a result their has been confusion on what is required from the players or for the coaches on selection guidelines. From the outside looking in there is no uniformity in the application of any existing policy. The mind boggles at the administrative failure in this regard.

This is a serious race to the bottom debate, but anyway here goes. I know the records. You could say Ian Mac is the worst bok coach ever if you want to just go on stats.

How is PDivvy's Super rugby record? exactly.

What has he done since being bok coach...UWC, how did that work out?

Methinks AC is more likely to get a decent coaching job before Snor does.

It would have been interesting to see how Toetie would have done if he had got the job after Jake left.
