Raptor, don't worry about the profile, take every km as it comes, and it should be over in about 84. Once you are over Boyes, it is cruising over the bumps until you hit OKW, which is situated on your way home.

With speed weaponry like Firecrest, you barely have to swing a pedal, eh?

Weather SA says 19 km / hour winds, still that's not too bad for my backyard.

I am so looking forward to this one, I think we are going to have a really fast hard ride.

Felt hungry to race again after a month 's break...

The 5 rider breakaway over Ou Kaaps was helluva exciting. We combined well in the paceline to stay away from the chasing wolves. Burnt several matches in the process.

It was a suicide break though...

Well organized.

Great play of hands by the weather gods.

Well done Dale! a Good race does wonders for the mindset. I can see the reason why you did not stay away is because you took the 500km route to the line instead of the 500m straight

Had a good one myself. Improved on last years time by 30 minutes. Only lost front of bunch up Ou Kaaps (there was two A group riders in our bunch, forcing the pace).

Very happy, legs are back, can start pushing climbs again. Looks like I'm peaking at the right time. :whistling: :D .

Also met a couple of new Hubbers in the bunch, amongst them Thorbuttox. Can't remember the other hubber names. (sorry Ahmad)

I had my best ride of the season :D

Lost 3 guys going up boyes but another rider and I caught them just after Fish hoek, then we slowed down quite a bit and went up Ou Kaapse not too fast, but we dropped the a huge bunch of E riders by quite a bit.

Then the 3 guys broke again at the top, it was if as an elastic had been pulled back a few km and then snapped they were so quick.

Then my sram decided to act up, and it mis-shifted, not too badly though and I got it on by shifting into the big ring, but I lost the other guy.

Worked hard and caught him down Ou Kaapse and didn't look back (-Metaphorically only, I looked back every few seconds to make sure he wasn't catching me) then I rode in in 4th place, been coming 6/7/8 so I'm stoked!

Let's just say that lactic acid can cause dyslexia in endurance athletes...

Good to meet you too, mate.

You looked in fine form today up Smits, etc. I wasn't paying attention at two important points and ended up time-trialling from the top of Boyes to past Fishhoek on my own and then being dropped at Soetwater and cycling the last 20-odd km alone. But had my fastest time up oukaaps by 3min and finished strong-ish-ly so maybe the World Champs in 2 weeks will be good. :) I was chuffed with a 2.40 given the levels of my stupidity!

It happens to everybody.

I had it yesterday, lost the front of the bunch never to be seen again
