Gumm's, I sat watchig Epic Tale with my boy and wife last night.

He wouldn't let me stop the recording, so got to bed late

But anyway, in one part they remove riders numbers, I became all emotional and the wife thought I was crazy.

I explained to her that we went to the finish line on stage one of the 2006 Epic to watch our fellow riders come in.

It poured with rain that day, our brake pads were gone before the first water table (luckily we had spares on us)

It was a monster day and a nasty day ,of Epic proportions, the cut-off was extended and then extended again, I will never forget the faces of the many who didn't make cut-off that day.

Great post.

Some some similar 'heart-breaking' footage again during the end of Stage 2.

It was touching.

I have seen that look many times at Comrades and Ironman but i am sure a multistage event like this is even worse.

Not sure, you idea was one of Burry hanging with Evans and George ?

From the 'I Am Specialized' news page

'Stander was happy when Sauser attacked near the end. "I was relieved when Christoph went on the attack for the finish, because when it comes to sprinting he's really not that good at it. So I had only to beat one of the two 360Life riders for the stage win'

I get that, I really do, but it's not the same as your story.

In the Spez vid of day three, the German handlanger tells Burry "that was a good tactic" about Suzzie opening a gap, Burry replies 'F$$^%$ I couldn't keep up with him'
