No one has mentioned the "ugly butt view from behind." seeing a guy's butt crack while riding behind him, is enough to speed past untill you legs fall off.

Dont think Ive ever seen someones crack while riding, but i suppose it might be possible if the wearer is overweight or the shorts dont fit properly.

More to do with "old" or "worn" bibs, rather than weight or fit. Lycra has a shelf life ... :whistling:

Ok great, so now which is the best brand available in SA. I know there is the whole deal of different pant suit different people, but in general.

I'm looking for long mileage stuff.

I hear Endura, Giordana and Assos mentioned, are they all available here?

Any advances?

Its like asking what car is the best.

-what is your budget

-how long are your rides

-do you ride stage races or multi day tours

-have you had issues with saddle sores before

After you have answered the above, look at the range of shorts in your budget and go try a few pairs on.

Note: This is the one time that you are allowed to wear underwear underneath the bibshort ;)

I've been using the Cape Storm Matrix bib and have found them very comfortable. I wanted to buy another pair today but my LBS only had the Nitro bibs. Will do a 100km district road ride this weekend to test them.

Budget is unlimited (for the purpose of this thread), rides are currently about 20km's, but pushing towards stage / multi day, never had an ass problem before.

Just recently had to endure a couple of seconds of real pant falling down crack on The Spruit. Fortunately he was slow...

I have tried the bib thing but just dont get the comfort thing everyone speaks of. Also if you need to take a leak wearing one of them you need to be pretty well endowed to slip it down your bib leg otherwise you will be performing yoga to extract yourself from the confines before you experience any relief.:)

I saw a lady who forgot to get fully into the top part of her bib before the race on saturday. She had to run to the powder room to makecthe necessary adjustments.

Too complicated for my liking and OBVIOUSLY not well endowed enough to be able to claim that a bib is viable. :) ;)
