The battery of my polar watch goes flat on a training ride yesterday.

Call Polar this morning, the first time they can help is 8 May. This is shockingly poor service. Unless there is another place where I can change the battery on a 725 model it is no training recorded for almost 3 weeks. I have recorded every training session since October last year

Where else can I take this watch for a battery?

The arrogance of Polar is shocking. m2cw.

Similar to what Vinny said above, I have had Polar batteries replaced by the LTS (local timepiece shop).

However, I don't know if they do the waterproof gasket thingy and torque settings to Polar specs.

Go to your chemist, buy a CR2354 battery. Get a small star screwdriver. Unscrew 4 screws on the back of the watch. Lift off the back being careful not to damage the o-ring. Remove and replace the battery. Refit the back cover.

Before you comment about waterproof etc, I've done this twice already in 9 years and have ridden some pretty wet trails. Polar are taking the piss.

Have replaced batteries on my Polar myself. So far, with swimming etc, no issues with waterproofing. Just don't damage the seal.

Polar is in midrand, very unlike them ito the service

PS You can replace your own battery or get another shop to do it BUUUUUUT beware if they are not accredited by Polar or you do it yourself you void your warrantee as I understand it AND the thing might not be waterproof anymore, Polar uses pressure to seal the units I think. Just saying

I phoned polar a couple of weeks ago the replace mine, the dude told me that I can do it myself.

I just worried to get it waterproof again......

Hey if he said its fine then fantastic, maybe its just specific to certain units but that's the message I got anyway.

I think the battery is like 40 zars, sommer get it at dischem.

just do it yourself , use to do mine often never had a issue . take the back off and just remeber to clean the Oring and when you refit it put some vasalene on it.

unless you plan on diving with it it wont leak.

Not defending Polar service, i have a 720 and it does indicate the battery is running low right? We also need to take some responsibility? I've replaced the battery myself, watch is outta warranty by like 5 years. I don't swim with it, simple cos i know the casing is cracked.

I have moved to Garmin, as far as i know the Edge units are sealed units and you can't replace battery, each device has it's pro's and con's?

Last details i have for Polar (could be out dated):

0118051028

36 Martin Koch

Vorna Valley

In the past, i arranged a walk in appointment, you go there, hand in the watch, get it back in 15min kinda thing.

Stats are great, if you been riding long enough, you should know what each intensity feels like, just a bit more PT keeping track of times in intervals etc.
