They are a well known brand, is reliable and real value for money. Compare components on a Silverback with other bikes in the same price range. They compare really well. covie Posted April 23, 2012 Share Had a SB when i started they are in fact great bikes, but since they sell them at a decent price point people tend to look down on them. They are tough and great value. Back in the day my entire phoenix bike cost 6k, i thought hell let me upgrade the frame to something lighter, ordered a morewood kwela frame for 7k (just the ht frame) proceeded with stripping down my bottom of the range SB, weighed the frame, only to fine out that my "bottom of the range" phoenix frame weighs 40 grams heavier than the top of the range morewood HT frame. Moral of the story, some people perceive them as being cheap low value bikes, they are not, they are well designed have great geometry, and have excellent groupsets, at sometimes half the price of the "more expensive brands" Go for it. Rudi Pollard Posted April 23, 2012 Share I currently ride the 2011 Silverback Ventura, and I honestly can't fault it. Great build quality, great components for the price. Have been riding it for the past year, and it is bullet proof. The only upgrade I have made is on the wheel set, but that is because I crashed the other set...
