So Sani is almost here, if you didn't have a quick drying towel how did you manage?

Or where is the best place to get good quality but not expensive quick dry towels?

Other things that need drying:

Shoes : Leave newspaper in them.

Any other suggestions guys for things that get wet and quick dry methods?

Stupid question but how gross will these tents be by the time the Race uses them?

Tie the strings between the tents to one another and make washing lines.

The other clever idea is ride faster and get back soon enough so you can dry your stuff.... :whistling:

You will have enough time every day after you finish to dry your towel and shoes (if necessary) using the tent ropes as a makeshift washing line. The only thing in the tents are two mattresses and they give it a quick "once over" to ensure it is clean for the next guys coming in.

You can buy quick drying towels from you friendly "Look I am a outdoorsy kind " Cape union Mart. Or buy it from you local midas or hardware as a quick drying car cloth and pay a 5th of the price. Hoora for cheapskates.

Riding Faster is the Idea....

I am not worried about the weather, I just know how drying a big normal towel takes and I don't feel like unpacking a stinky box each day...

Very clever Idea but is the car cloth big enough.... speaking of which I just bought one of the Revo Blitz clothes that came down from R150 to R59 at Builders Maybe I need to give it a try tonight lol.....

OK here are my tips:

Towel - The ones at Cape Union Mart works very well

Shoes - I bought a pair of "stuffitts" for my shoes at the 2Oceans expo. Works great for running shoes and cycling shoes www.stuffitts.com

Gloves - I take 3 pairs with me. You could always hang them out and if not completely dry, simply place them between your fitted sheet and the mattress. Your body heat during the night will dry them out nicely

Feet - I use sealskinz socks. Works extremely well unless your feet gets submerged below the top elastic. Then the water seeps in from the top. www.sealskinz.co.za

These came in very handy with all the little water crossings on day 2 after the first water point. These are shallow, but very loose and rocky and most were not ridable.
