Reread the thread and you will understand where Caerus was coming from.

PS: this was my Baddddd, meant hub.

and ye I know the ducat's have the rotor bolted to the rim with the caliper on the inside. My might be red, but sadly not a ducati, well except when I loose good sense and go down a hill to fast, then it feels like my own little ducati :)

The OP mentioned they his rotors looked to be attached to his rims, I asked if they were not in fact connected to his hubs, then he posted a pic and I confirmed they were indeed bolted to his hubs. Hence why I said go back and reread, capisce?

You won't be disappointed, just don't do metal pads, the 1-20 frame does not seem to agree with it.

Seriaaaas? :whistling: ;)

 and we had a very nice winter afternoon ride @ the spruit...

and by the way awesme nails it on the downhills I would never say that his brakeset upgrade was even optional nor will it be wasted.

I'm now convinced, more than ever, that the XT/2012 brakes are way better than my Avid XX's....

Hi TheV,

They def nice... very sharp (money well spend) shifters are next! and as you saw, I don't mind letting it go on those downhills, biggest thing, keep looking well ahead and have the bike move below you.

Ok specifically as follows:

Deor xt bl-m785 brake lever and calipers

Sm-rt81 rotors,203mm front and 180 back.

Just remember you will need new shimano spacers to move from the 160/180mm the bike comes with.

Total overkill, 160 / 160 is fine for 99% of 26" XC/trail usage, and 180/160 is fine for 99% 29'er XC/trail usage, anything more than that at the back your just going to lock up the whole time. Especially the rear and that has a negative imapct on your riding and destroys trails.

AWESOME is the only thing to be said.
