Hi all,

I had an accident with a friend and it wasn’t even a hard hit. As we were on single track going downhill, he stopped suddenly and I had to grab my brakes but there was not enough distance to come to a complete stop. I eventually stopped right next to him and his pedal clipped out a piece of my fork. It sucks big time. I immediately sent the bike to the bike shop and they said it’s just cosmetic damage and that the fork is still good to be ridden with. The fork is not bent and the travel is still the same.

I need your opinion just by looking at the pics. Do you think it’s safe to still ride on?

And is there anyone that can repair this by filling it up with putty and spraying the fork again?

Lemme know your thoughts. Any advice/opinion will be appreciated.

It will look worse if you try and repair it. Get some new lowers or look around for a second hand one. Then swop them over. Should do the trick.

Who sells just the lowers?

I forget at the moment. They are in Cape Town. Also ask your bike shop and a few others. There is a good chance you will find a good second hand one. Try Cape Cycle Systems in Cape Town for more info. They are not bad guys at all. They have always helped me out 100%.

Have to agree there, lowers gonna cost you. Best would be pratley steel or epoxy with some masking tape to match the shape........otherwise and even easier way out, so that it is not an eye sore, just get some funky sticker and paste it over the hole.

Thanks for the replies, do any of you know of places that can fill this @#$# hole?

Speak to Zuma, he'll fill any hole.

There is a guy that repainted my one frame a while back... used to be on The Hub, TokenFreak... He "built up" a full on break boss out of a certain type of something, can't recall the name now. Like a metal "Pratley Putty" I'm sure you can use the same stuff to build that piece up again and take some white paint to it.
