My wife and I do it at 360Vida in Craigavon. Unfortunately she is much better at it than me, but I have to say that it has been really good for both of us.

I guess the biggest thing is that you end up feeling so much more physically capable, and therefore more confident.

Has it improved my riding? Definitely!

I am thinking of changing my 2 day/week gym sessions into a crossfit style training. Its possible to modify your current workout to this form of training by changing to only free weights and performing all the exercises per muscle group as a giant set/superset with no recovery between exercises. Sounds easy but it kills you

For me to do proper crossfit at a crossfit gym would mean to travel to Durbanville (closest) for my workouts. Its not practical

Is that your only joke?

Go try it.. you might just like it.

I have tried it and it's a great form of exercise but wow it makes for snooze worthy conversations at dinner parties.

Surely just doing anything that keeps you active is "Cross Fit"? Me, I have my pull-ups bars for occasional pull-ups, leg lifts, etc. Throw in push-ups. Run down to Greenpoint park and do calisthenics. If you look at some of the calisthenic videos on Youtube like Bar Brothers, you'll see the guys use basic street furniture. There's never too old: I'm 49 and can get through around 60 pull-ups and 100 push-ups in sets of 10 - 20. Hehe, yeah, I think I'm bragging a bit ... but seriously, when I see kids of 20 who can't even lift themselves, I say wtf?

I think that what Crossfit did was take working out and turn it into a competitive thing.

It's amazing how much harder you push when there is a timer going.

My wife is looking to go and compete in the regionals (if she qualifies) next year. This adds motivation to every workout she does.

I am too old to be competitive, but I love the competitive nature of the sessions. This a huge contrast to "pumping iron" at a gym, which frankly bores me to tears.

As opposed to the rivetting cycling conversations that abound?

crossfit is great for extroverts. For introverts it is over stimulation. probably why it is not so popular with runners........

I started on the 11th of June and almost died after the first session.I do 2 sessions per week and it is getting easier.

There are many variations of cross fit out there.

It's summer here so most session are on a soccer field.

2.4 km run to warm up and then loads of push ups, pull ups and sit ups with a medicine ball.

Rope climbing and cargo net.

Burpees, lunges, starjumps, running with a sand bag or 2 and pulling a tyre or 2 across the field.

Bar bell weights, keggle balls to finish off the pain.

It's all very similar to army training from years back.....just this time you are paying for it.
