really cold weather like last weekend....

Riding shirt

Gillit

Arm warmers

Yellow first ascent jacket

Bib + Leg warmers

Nice and cozy, and the temp never went above 5deg at kingskloof by the end of our ride

Im guessing no more than 10 degrees when we start.

I quite like the first ascent 'apple' jacket, but does it keep you warm?

Its def wind proof so you do heat up in side - just keep yourself zipped up untill you finished with your ride. Its worked well so far - a def winner because I hate bulky, and heating up halfway through a ride is just a pain because you need to carry it if you remove it! Worth every cent!

If it's really chilly, this is what I do, but I have to warm (I mean warn) you, that my mates sometimes tease me because I've got more layers than an onion.

First Ascent polypropilene base layer

Cycling shirt

Bibshorts

Arm warmers

Leg warmers

Booties

Long fingered gloves

Buff under helmet & over ears

Windproof Gillet if it is a bit cold

or windproof jacket if it is freezing

This is what I wear for chilly mornings -

Buff over ears and mouth

Cotton vest under jersey

Wind jammer (sleeveless)

First Ascent arm warmers

First Ascent Knee warmers (from bib to ½ way down the calf)

Shoe socks and/ or toe covers

Phoned every place I can think of within 30km's for a First Ascent Razor Vest.... Nothing!

Yes its surprisingly difficult to find winter cycling stuff in Joburg LBS's in frikkin WINTER!?

That was me about 2 weeks ago - left work early on a friday to get sorted and ended up going home empty handed. layered up with a couple of moisture wicking t shirts under my winter cycling jersy + rain jacket and it was absolutely fine (along with leg and arm warmers and long fingered gloves)...
