Brrrrr. temp was 3.5degrees when I left the car for the start. Fast ride mainly through mielie fields, but going through that water section was not fun. Couldn't feel my toes after that. A bit of a mess with 10km riders wanting to go straight on their course and the 30km who had to push through to get to their turn off just after the gate.

Nice prego roll etc on sale after the race. Prize giving took forever to get going and we eventually left after 45min.

Holy moley it was cold!!!! 3 degrees when I started riding.

A puncture and buggered knee later I finished :)

Not sure if it was the shoes or what, but it was an excruciating finish.

Loved it though, was tough but a good race. Went through the river... haha!

Awesome race except for being a tad cold, I felt sorry for the guy who fell in front of me off the pallets into the water (after going under the bridge by Dunblane) he must have had a very cold 30 odd km to the finish.

Was nice to race on routes that we ride every weekend.

my 1st 30K race. Enjoyed it, wish I rode a bit faster. The only thing i didn't enjoy apart from the cold was the mud that got stuck around my cleats.

80km in the bank - Excellent!

Twas good to see the SS massif representing on the start line - Iron and I rode our SSers for some fun and found Tim and 1 other SSer. Brilliant stuff! How about an SS category organisers?

Next time something bigger than a 32x16 - I thought I saw smoke from my knee caps at one stage...

Was freeeeezing, but not a bad race, flat and fast. A tad short of the advertised 60km though, Garmin had 53km.

Be happy about the shorter route. Heard they said on the start line they took out the swamp section next to serengeti with ice cold water above ankle depth 150m long and no way around it. Rode/walked it twice in summer and it wasn't fun then.

If they had included the swamp section (summer ot winter) I would have turned round and ridden. The swamp section is a stupid idea - wading through knee deep water is nobody's idea of a good time - rolling water into the hubs and BB for what? The honour of being a real mountain biker according to the route maker? Yeah - I'm a real mountain biker because I can get off my bike and push it for 400m.

Whoever included the swamp last year needs a proper snot klap. Twice. With a brick. Or as someone once said - he deserved a high five. To the face. With a brick :-)
