Definition: Trail & Cross Country riding

Hi all

 

Ok, does anyone have a good explanation/description of Trail and cross country riding,

 

DH is a now brainer, point it down a hill and hold on.

Not to dump on this thread (i also want the answer) but I think too many titles and descriptions are forced onto the sport.

 

Take 1 bike and 1 rider and put them on a dirt track.That is all it should ever be. Man against himsel and the elements. Nevermind what the scenario. Its about enjoyment.

 

Now can somebody else answer the OP? I dont know the answer.

My 2c: trail riding is generally more technical, cross country is mostly faster with less ups & downs.

How to rate it: I don't know.

If there's dirt under your wheels, it's mountain biking. Finish and klaar.

 

Agree. Also not a fan of labelling and pigeon holing. Things don't always fit into neat little boxes.

 

As an aside, if I am riding my mountain bike and briefly need to use the tar road, what am I doing? :)
