ThePubSA Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 http://ep3.pinkbike.org/p1pb6168857/p1pb6168857.jpg The dampers are assembled by hand under oil, to make sure no air is in the system. To keep the oil as pure as possible it is continuously filtered, if dirt got into the system it could compromise the damper.
ThePubSA Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb9024370/p5pb9024370.jpghttp://ep3.pinkbike.org/p1pb6168857/p1pb6168857.jpg After assembly the dampers are left to rest in oil for a week to make sure they are correct. If there is a problem the damper will extend during that time, so the faulty units can easily be identified and removed from production.

ThePubSA Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 http://ep3.pinkbike.org/p1pb6168857/p1pb6168857.jpg Coming back from the damper assembly is the small assembly area - things like grub-screws are mounted into barrels. This part doesn't need to be kept quite as sterile as the damper assembly, but because of the size of the parts being assembled they keep the space nice and empty. If you ever want to feel fat-fingered, come and watch this for a few minutes...

I think Oliver Twist also had a short stint making inferior headsets.
