OK, so I bought a new bike which was fitted with Elixir 3 Hydrolic disk breaks, the problem that I have is that the breaks are touching the rotor on the back wheel, infact you cant even see a mm space either side of the rotor, if you turn the wheel it turns maybe 3 times before stopping, the guys at the LBS is saying that its a problem with the Elixir 3 break and that I will have to ride it till there is enough wear on the pads, my shimano's was easy to set with a simple screw,

does anyone know how to set these breakes or are the LBS telling me the truth?

at least I am getting alot more training with the extra drag :)

Strangely enough I have the exact same issue with my Elixir 3 brakes on the MTB I bought a few weeks ago.

I took it back to the shop I bought it from and they made a few adjustments which seemed to improve it a bit, but it still seems to be rubbing ever so slightly causing the wheel to also stop after only a few rotations (when spinning the wheel by hand).

But hey, like you say, at least the extra drag is adding to the training...

Bleed them, bleed them, bleed them, and them bleed them again.

At the end of the 10th bleed, "release" some fluid before tightening the bleed port screw (this will give the pads some "play" and not be to close to the rotor).

Good luck

Try this: Loosen the mounting bolts so the caliper is loose enough to move around then spin the wheel. Pull the brake lever to stop the wheel and whilst holding the brake lever tighten the bolts alternating between the bolts until fully tightened. This centers the caliper which should eliminate the touching of the pads on the rotor.
