As I'm sure most of you know winters in the Western Cape can be really crappy

Wet, Windy, Cold and Stormy.

I'm all for training in drizzle and the cold, but when it gets bad it gets real bad.

Is spinning at gym a good alternative to training in the mountains for a MTB race?

If so how long should you spin for and what kind of spin session should you do (intensity)?

Thanx

Very good alternative for mtb if you set the resistance very high. In the spinning classes the trainer always looks at me funny cause my cadence is always like x5 times slower than everybody else.

Interesting, thanks!

And because you're not hopping in your saddle like a crazed rabbit on epoh...

I wonder sometimes if those instructors really know what they are doing...

What are you wondering about? They cannot train you for racing.

Thats why I sit on the spinning bike outside the studio doing my own programming looking at the people hopping around while doing the weekly sufferfest.

Then you haven't been to one of my classes, have you? When I used to give spinning classes, some people would only train in my classes and ride the long distance on the weekends. It all depends on whether the instructor knows something about cycling or not...
