i will be on spinnerkop's as long as possible.

bela bela was 40km, aiming for better this time.

 

This will be a good race for '1hill'. hope he entered VA as well

I'll be there - and hugging the yellow line. Been doing this race for about 10 years now, and was there when there was the fatal accident when an oncoming car hit the bunch. Have never ridden on the RHS of a bunch since....

It doesn't matter where you position yourself in the group for this race, it is a dangerous event on a dodgy route. I will never to do it again. Far too many crashes for my liking.

True, but some races have more than others. This is one of them.

Personally I prefer more challenging races that include hills to break up the groups, I don't need to prove how tough I am by losing skin from arse to elbow.

i remember them being quite bad, hopefully by now they are fixed, maybe try call the race organisers Anton?

And again the regestration is only on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 9am and 4pm, do they think cyclist dont work or do they expect us to take a days leave just to regester for their race!

 

You see, the CSA commisaires do not let any licenced rider regester on race day. Try and compalain and they just say, "you wanted to be licenced, so you should do the effort to regester on the days before"

Looking forward to see what the legs has to say......the race will be the start of a decent training camp weekend!! Friday 200, Saturday 50, Sunday 100. Bring on the miles!

Agree, likelyhood of crashing is high in this race, but it's the first 45km where the risk is, and after all the hero's have blown from racing at 180BPM from the start, the bunches thin out a bit! Nice thing is, there's a wide dirt shoulder on the left, so I hang left ready to take to the dirt if need be

Wow, you guys are doing a good job of amping me up for my first road race

It's easy. Just avoid the multiple potholes that don't get called out, dodge the cars that want to kill you from the front, get out of the way of the trucks that want to kill you from behind, hope that the marshals showing you which way to turn in the township are actually there, jump over the multiple uncovered railway lines, don't go over the narrow finish with more than one cyclist near you, and you will be fine.
