Anyone wanna share some nutritional tips for this event?

What are some of your meals?

How often do you top up that fuel tank?

I will be riding this for the 1st time.

What you eat may depend on how fast you are riding. The fast teams probably chew theri bar tape and suck the odd gel.

Take a varied menu if you plan on being out there a bit longer than 5 1/2 hours

Your usual energy drinks, with some plain water, coke and or energade in the cooler box.

Your usual energy bars along with peanut butter sandwhiches, muffins, bananas, nuts, fruit dainties

Leave space for beers and a burger at the finish.

Whatever you do, don't eat bananas or anything else that will take your stomach 12-24 hours to digest - all this does is draw energy away from your muscles to the digestive process. Your body can only digest highly refined carbs (speak glucose or similar) efficiently enough that it will make any difference on the bike. Peanut butter is very high in fat, so it will also slow down your digestion.

wow, bananas no good, eh? ok, if you're going to pull a Tim Noakes on us and turn the world of sports nutrition upside down, at least please back it up with some solid evidence - much obliged!

Some people might be out there for that long, so perhaps bananas are a good suggestion...
