Well It was pretty nippy this morning. Glad I took my arm and leg warmers. It was a 3h20 for me. I was on target for a 3h00 at the 60k mark but it was not to be my day entirely. I see at a few points where they had speed humps it looked like total carnage. Water bottles, bicycles and bodies everywhere. Ok no bodies but it definitely looked liked there were a few injuries and the paramedics were busy. The last 10k's always a killer especially that last damn hill poor buggers were actually pushing their bikes up the hill. The last hill was not too bad for me. I have been doing lots of hill work on Krugersdorp hill and Robert Broom.

I like a good blowjob now and then but today was ridiculous :w00t:

Did anyone see the car crash on the way out of Krugersdorp after the race?

It wasn't that bad but less wind is always better.

Yes we saw the accident but couldn't figure out how the one car ended up on top of the other.

Didn't look like any got injured but I could be wrong.

Also seeded AL. Not in shape for a race, so also thinking of falling back to BL/etc for a tempo ride rather (and saving my legs for the last hill!)

I was there in BL. Black bibs and black & Orange SabieX top. Older black Giant TCR. How was your race?

Rough, never-mind a tough, day in the saddle! Lack of real, and recent, consistent training showed me out badly today :'(

My first full D2D and after a bone wrenching Berge & Dale earlier this year along almost the exact same route, today went better and I think a winter of staying on the bike payed off. Unofficially, 2:48 after yesterday's 70km (or was it 77...Or just my Polar again...) in Irene has me satisfied :-)

Those speed humps near Tarlton are really dangerous. We had chaos in our bunch on the Wilro in April. Today it was worse. Bottles galore, and riders on the deck. Knowing what was to come, I slowed our bunch down, and there were no incidents. The marshaling did not seem to be effective.

How did it go Speedracer?

Tough day, mate. Got gippo guts in the early hours and spent most of the night up. Got a late start. Had to return home to get the bag with my helmet and shoes in. I was about 10km from home in Fairland when I realized my mistake. I got going again at 705. GL was due to set off at 727. To add to the dog's breakfast, one of my bottles filled with Epic Pro soaked my bag, jersey, phone, pump, etc. After some kerazee driving got to the line as my group left. Time trialled most of the first 70km, averaging 35km/h. Then came the inevitable bonk. Did the last 23km in about an hour! Finished a little shy of sub-three. Riding so far down is an excellent training tactic which I heartily recommend ;-))

This was my second road race , first one being Dischem Ride for Sight.

Came in at 02h55, quite pleased considering I was going full out at the Nissan 40km on Saturday.

Was a nice experience and will be back next year.

Hey Robo, must've missed you today. Sounds like you had a tough one as well. You keen to do SBR again soon?

If it involves riding my bike, then YES! How about this weekend?

I don't know what SBR is, but it sounds like a road ride (maybe a route in the South?) ...so if its a road training ride on Sunday, I would like to join please..

Another tough day for me. This weekend and at EPR, I had the stamina for the distance but no speed in my legs to stick with any group. They feel like lead. Was watching all the groups catch, and then pass me, just as quickly. Need to get my legs back over next 3 months before 94.7.

SBR = Suikerbosrand. 57km of hills. About 1200m ascent in that time! Here is the loop on Strava

Keen?
