scotty Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 anyone who kills another person should be jailed for life. adn that jail time should involve chain-gang type work or some other form of work - NOT sitting around watching tv and making phone calls at the tax-payers expense. Also not that easy, what if the person was forced to e.g wife blikssemed by her husband and fearing for her life, accidental etc cannot be treated same as someone who does the deliberate act. Agree if it was deliberate they should be locked up for life.

Why must me, my fiance, and my family k@k off today for something Mr. Verwoerd did out of stupidity years ago? Scotty, killing for self defence is a different story. Also, isn't it true that if you wake up 2am in the morning, and there is a pigment challenged brother standing over you with a knife, and you shoot him dead, you will probably go to jail for murder. He wasn't looking for a cup of tea for himself! He first needs to stab you, and then you can shoot out of self defence. Am I wrong?
slowpoke Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 scotty, i should have clarified - "anyone who kills for no reason or in order to commit another crime" self-defence or clear stupidity (ie manslaughter) should carry their own separate individually chosen punishments (in fact i'd say no punishement at all for self-defence situations - i do believe in justifiable self-defence killings, or to kill in order to protect a helpless/innocent victim being killed or harmed)
