Serious question, why are limiting yourself to these two and not considering Campag as well ?

SRAMRED has made it onto most top end new bikes being sold. Not taking away from it's capability I think this is primarily due to good marketing.

Campaq, good, flashy, expensive

Dura Ace, good, functional, least expensive.

All 3 are more than capable, I would even include Ultegra in that list. Durability is the same amongst all 4. There may be some weight differences maybe Sramred is 15-30 grams less than the rest, makes no diff to me.

The differentiator is going to be aestetics, price, and ego

Is campag any good? Seriously, cause I haven't had much "interaction" with it.

Everything else wears out. Campag wears in. Its the kinda stuff you end up putting on display when you take it off your bike.

Peter Sagan uses Red.

'Nuff said.

More seriously, it's a matter of taste and budget size.

Both Red and Dura are pretty good top end gruppos.

Try and get a demo ride on each . Campag will cost the most to keep going where you can interchange

chains and some other bits on Sram and Shimano .

For me Sram has the looks and feels alot more crisp than the Dura Ace set up.

But try and ride each and choose for yourself .

I have SRAM X0 on my mtb and it is bullet proof.Much better than Shitmano

On my road bike I run Dura Ace and it is faultless and super smooth. You set the gears and that's that

My son however swears by Sram Red

Any advice on this topic? Sram durability?

BTW

The 2012 Sram Red is super hot and the best they've made.

Campag will lost the longest. The Ergo's can also be serviced.

Shimano is great for fishing   .

It works.

SRAM is light but it wears out pretty quick.

Be prepared to replace cassettes & chains often.
