Been hitting the trails/singletracks hard again the last week, since I got a bike again. Few of the trails need some repairs after the rains, and maybe some jumps over the fallen trees. Seen fallen tree with some sweet prospects.

Used to build there around 2001-2004, some of my handy work is still standing, but most of my old friends got jobs and not around. So looking for the guys that currently build there, if there is any???

Was thinking of doing some work before summer starts hardening the clay.

Why do they try and make it official? I just used to ride in with shovel and pik, and sharpen things up.

I'll reserve my comments on the municipality... if they had their way, it would,ve been a gholf course (3rd one in one suburb, wtf)..

*bump*

Situation still the same as in 2012? Would be keen to help out fixing some of these up a bit,

Logging messed up the refurbished DH track (Done by few local guys) so building in Eden zero/minimal at the moment. Most single tracks still decent and ride-able. I usually just hit few tracks and then head over to G-spot for my jump fix. Mark builds and maintains things on that side alone.

I'd say the general condition is still pretty good - compared to Jonkers where you have to ratatatat through dongas!!

A bit off topic but some eager-beavers built a new ST somewhere in the middle-section of Eden (that short, sweet segment where you sorta ride up and down on a ridge) a short while ago. They were so desperate to promote their track that they blocked off the original one!  Kudos to their enthusiasm but it was sh*** track!

Yeah, I love riding the forest and then along the top section above gspot, back down to coetzenberg side past horses etc.

I remember some old jumps and dips etc on the bottom left hand corner of Eden (standing at main gate that side looking up at mountain). Would be interested in resurrecting that route. Is that part of DH track? Kinda just fades into overgrowth now

Was there other day, still jumpable, but chain blocking drop-in. Not part of the old DH, the DH ends by the dam almost and starts up in the tree line. But no way to see it anymore, except if you know the track by memory.

Saw some added things every now and again, but if track is block/re-directed i just kick it out of the way. Eden trails flow pretty naturally, like water flow almost, so the new ones dont last long.

I scratched/built the ridge line just before we wanted to start ERA (Eden Riders Assosiation)

Got chased away by a "Eckhardt" chap that was obsessed with breaking everything we built.

This led us to try talk to the municipality and other "cycling groups" (eg Amarider) but apart from red tape and lip service the E.R.A. effort took a nosedive (the page is still on facebook with some entries)

It seems that only illegal building is what is possible at the moment...

Even though its illegal building, who would really stop a few guys heading up to do some work?

I'll take some photos later in the week of some of the places I think could be repaired.

But yes, the 2 main lines in the forest are still great, just some of the structures are worn down..
