just entered Engen dynamic cycle ride, CSA needs membership or day license, my PPA membership doesn't count, amarider does not use the regular timing but their own tags, so your ride doesn't reflect with the usual racetec timed rides, why can't all these associations pull in one direction? :cursing:

On the topic of licences, how many (former?) PPA members have taken out CSA membership instead, since PPA doesn't include CSA anymore? I used to be with PPA but haven't renewed for 2012/13 (yet) and I'm a bit undecided?

Maybe it should be regulated and we can get the Sports Minister to draft a Cycling Unification Bill for Parliament to debate and enact? :whistling:

Oh no, please! That will probably double the length of the entry forms and quadruple the membership prices!

At least it will keep the minister occupied for a few years...

Just paid my PPA fees. Any race that I want to do that requires CSA membership, I will buy a day license. (think it will only be the Burger at the end of the year, the rest I will skip, as I feel PPA does more for me as a WC rider, than what CSA does)

So what does CSA actually do for amateur cycling?

Wannabe - If you were a member of PPA in Feb this - I think that was the month! You have a CSA licence till 31 dec 2012 - so for this year Burger you do not need a day licence - cannot say what is happening for next year yet.

Ah, thanks for reminding me, Forgot about that. Might still enter the Engen then. :D

Dunno, very little I would venture to say. Not sure about now, but a few years ago (4 to be exact) I was on the NW Cycling Union comittee, and then it was quite clear that CSA did little for the amateur cyclist.

Tres confusing. But if PPA run most of the Western Cape races, and you don't get a CSA licence with your PPA membership, then will you need a CSA licence to enter a PPA event?
