With Stans you can get a hub cap for the conversion and with AM you can get a hub axle conversion. (PS. I have a Stans Crest with thru-axle wheelset available for R4500 brand new). Thanks for the info. So you literally remove the whole quick-release mechanism from the hub, and replace it with one of these conversions? How reliable are they? Has anyone tried them before? I haven't really settled on a price. About R3000 second-hand, or about R4000-R4500 new. I'll keep my eyes open for something on The Hub. October is bonus month (hopefully), so looking to spend a few bucks on my bike. I'm a heavy rider (90-95kg at the moment), so apparently the Crests are not an option :-( My freewheel is very quiet at the moment and I have a feeling it might be nearing the end of life, so I thought I might as well upgrade the whole wheelset while I'm at it. After Karoo 2 Coast I noticed an alarming amount of oil coming out of my Fox F29, so that also needs some attention. Eish... a MTB is expensive to maintain.
